Elephant Polo 1995

HERE are some photographs taken at the 1995 annual Elephant Polo Tournament in Nepal. Our Norse-American team competed bravely, but we ultimately had to leave without the trophy. That went instead to the team from the Phillipines. They returned home triumphantly to bask in the acclaim of a proud nation. Other teams that participated did not treat the event so seriously.

To mount the elephant, use its built-in "elevator."
For best results, wield a stick that is precisely the right size.
